A Tooth for a Tooth
Sadly, for hundreds of years elephants have been hunted and killed
just for their tusks.
Tusks are made of ivory and ivory has been used to make piano keys, dominoes, jewelry, and art.
save elephants
with a little help
from the
Tooth Fairy
Did you know
that tusks on an elephant
are just really long teeth?
And did you know
that one tusk can weigh
over 100 pounds?
Can you imagine having
two very long
and very heavy teeth
sticking out
in front of your face?
Today, many of these products are now made from plastics instead of ivory.
But each year thousands of elephants are still killed so their tusks can be carved into pieces of jewelry, trinkets, and art.
So many elephants have been killed for their ivory teeth that the number of elephants living today is half of what it was 100 years ago.
But it doesn't have to be this way. And would you believe me if I told you that you can help?
Yes, You!
There are many people working to protect elephants and you can be one of them.
Here's How...
Have you ever lost a tooth?
Did you pull it out
or did it fall out by itself?
Did you put your tooth under your pillow at night when you went to bed?
And while you were asleep, did the Tooth Fairy visit and leave you money?
Do you think
you would be willing
to share a little of the money that the Tooth Fairy gave you
for losing your tooth
to help an Elephant save its tooth and its life?
It is easy to do.
